Motifs for Embroideries: 7th Series from the DMC Library
This present collection contains a fine selection of models, which are easy to reproduce, since they require only the simplest stitches, but nevertheless most effective. The first 9 plates, devoted to embroidery on linen, show borders, with and without corners, and all-over designs, worked in flat stitch of varying length and occasionally overlapping, the linen remaining visible between the embroidered motifs. The last 7 plates consist of designs for tapestry work on a canvas ground, which is entirely covered with embroidery in cross stitch, petit point, flat stitch, Florentine stitch and double (or Smyrna) cross stitch.
