This is a wonderful collection of German sampler motifs and borders. The book begins with several photographs of the actual patterns included on various household and decorative items. The photo gallery is followed by 42 plates of sampler motifs, borders, some including corners and all over pattern designs. The patterns are shown being used to decorate pillows, towels, kitchen linens, mats and tablecloths using counted thread embroidery techniques and the all over pattern designs are shown being used to decorate chair seats being stitched with wool on canvas. The possibilities for use of all of the patterns are endless.
