The Baltimore Museum of Art has long maintained a commitment to continuous publication of major aspects of its permanent collection. Nine of the twenty-four Baltimore Album Quilts in this exhibition and accompanying catalogue are from the Museum's collection. Since there number - in total - perhaps no more than fifty of these extraordinary textiles, it is fitting that The Baltimore Museum of Art has become known as a leading repository of these art works so uniquely idiomatic to the City of Baltimore as to carry the City's name as their only generic identification.
