Animal Embroideries and Patterns From 19th Century Vienna by Raffaella Serena

This is the second book to concentrate on the petit point embroidery of Vienna during this era. The first, Embroideries and Patterns from 19th Century Vienna, is dedicated to a floral theme. Here, the world of animals is illustrated in embroideries chosen from the outstanding Nowotny Collection in Vienna. These original patterns portray, in beautiful colors, a variety of embroidered pictures including dogs, cats and domestic animals, as well as wild beasts, hunting scenes and exotic birds. In addition to the outstanding color photographs, new black and white patterns (keyed to DMC) are included, based on the originals, which will enable today's embroiderers to reproduce these historic designs.
